The most recent example is from the earthquake in Sichuan Province in May of 2008. While thousands of school kids were killed by collapsed school buildings, all students from a middle school survived even without a single one being hurt. That’s because of their timely and orderly evacuations (撤离), which they had been drilled in every term.
It’s good to see this program as the most important activity of a national campaign to make students be aware of personal safety. Chinese Education Ministry has called on all schools nationwide to give lessons on self-protection knowledge in times of emergency every term. 【写作内容】

The author introduces a TV program which is concerned with self-protection and takes the earthquake in Sichuan as an example to convey the significance of giving lessons on self-protection to students.
In common with the author, I believe that strengthening the consciousness of self-protection is a must for the students. Since the students are the future builders of a country, it’s vital for schools to equip them with the capability of protecting themselves.
To heighten students’ awareness of self-protection in the daily life, there are many aspects to be paid attention to. Firstly, children can’t press the electrical button with wet hands. What’s more, kids are not allowed to swim in the stormy days. Thirdly, take caution when crossing the street. Wait until the light turns green.
On the whole, we can’t emphasize the importance of self-protection too much. Only when we have a good command of self-protection skills, can we have a safe life and enjoy the brilliant future.
