Success in my eyes
Good afternoon，ladies and gentleman. Today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. What is success? Before I start my speech, I’d like to interview some of you“what is success in your eyes?”(采访一个评委和老师)
“A thinks success is…b holds that success is…”No matter what is success in your eyes, but I know success must be what everyone is longing for. Sometimes success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success. However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. So I’d like to share one story to explain what success is in my eyes.
Few weeks ago, I made a call with one of my students’ parents and asked something about his son. At first, I told her that her son were often absent-minded in the class and even didn’t do any homework for many weeks. Can you imagine what this boy’s father said to me: teacher, I am a successful people? I have more than 20 chain stores and much business to do? I have no time to care about my son. And even more I don’t care my sons’ achievement is good or not? What’s more, it’s your teachers’ duty. I want to ask all of you to think if he is really successful to have such a “good” son who often says: I hope my parents would die early and I will have all the money A ha-ha. My answer to this issue is absolutely “no”. Even though maybe he is a good businessman but never be a “successful” father. Having fame and money is not real success.
Nowadays, people who have fame and money are regarded as the successful. But we all know that there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end? What will satisfy us at last?
In my opinion, Success is that we must need something inside. We must know what our weaknesses are and where we are wrong, just like this father in my story. If he knows he is on the wrong direction to cultivate his son, he must be on the road to be a successful father. Everyone has his own interpretation as I do. But I am sure every success leads to an ever-brighter future. So ladies and gentlemen, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life! Wish you all good success!
