学生复述了上述短文后，可自由地做口头作文。教师要求基础好的学生用上所有的新词汇，要求基础较差的学生用上50％的新词汇.

因课上时间有限，教师无法听到所有学生的口头作文，可让学生课下把口头作文写下来，作为家庭作业。 教师可以在批改学生的作文时更多地发现学生的问题，并予以纠正。学生也会通过由口头到笔头的训练加深对所学词汇的印象。
