Coordinates
The radial grid is defined similarly to a standard grid. X and Z coordinates are input in millimeters, Y coordinates are in degrees. It is possible to use “N*M” notation in X and Y coordinates to indicate
repeated spans. After any change to the X or Y coordinates, the preview is automatically updated. The preview can also be updated at any time by clicking the preview button in the upper right corner.
X spans define the location and span of the arc portions of the grid, the first value will be the radius of the inner most arc. Subsequent spans are entered as distances relative to the first value.
Y spans define the locations at which a “spoke” grid will be created. Similar to the X spans, the first value defines the start of the sweep and additional values are relative to the first. Rotation is counterclockwise from the X axis in the current work plane.
Z values behave the same as a standard grid and are the actual floor levels.
Labels
Labels for the grids and floors can be specified here. Grid labels are automatically assigned if the fields are left blank or if the number of girds is greater than the number of labels given. (X1, X2, etc. Y1, Y2, etc. and FL1, FL2, etc. for floors) Only the first and last arc grid segments are given labels; internal segment labels are left blank to keep the screen from becoming cluttered
Line Extensions
The line extensions of grids can be defined here. In order to keep the arc grids intersections clean, only the first and last arc segment grids are extended.
Magnetism
The created grid planes can be set to have
magnetic properties.
Add to existing grid
By default the radial grid is created as its own
grid object. However, by checking the “Add to
existing grid” box before creation, you can add
the radial grids to an existing grid to create a
single complex grid. After pressing create, you
will be prompted to select the grid to which the
new grid planes should be added.
Lock grid
In order to prevent accidental modification of the radial grid from the normal grid dialog, you can lock the grid. In order to unlock the grid, you must edit the Locked property in the grid’s user defined attributes, which can be accessed from the standard grid property dialog.
